How to make dal makhni?

Ingredients

1/2 cup whole black gram (sabut urad) soaked overnight

4 tsp red kidney beans (rajma) soaked overnight

2 tsp oil

2 onion fine chopped 

2 tomatoes fine chopped 

1 inch Ginger fine chopped 

2 green chilly fine chopped 

5 garlic cloves chopped 

Salt to taste 

1 tsp cumin seeds 

1 tsp red chili powder 

2 tsp coriander powder 

1/2 tsp turmeric powder 

1/4 garam masala powder 

Kasuri methi for garnishing 

Coriander leaves for garnishing

2 tsp butter

 

Process

  • Boil sabut urad and rajma in four cups of water and salt. Cook for four whistle in pressure cooker or until rajma is completely soft.
  • Heat butter and oil in pan add cumin seeds, cloves, black cardamom, and green cardamom. Now add ginger and garlic sauté them.
  • Add onions and sauté them until onions become golden brown. Add green chili and tomatoes sauté until it become soft. Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and garam masala powder.
  • Add cooked dal and rajma along with water. Cook it for 10 minutes.
  • Now add kasuri methi powder and coriander leaves for garnishing. Put some butter for smoothness.  
  • Dal makhni is ready to eat.
